The Power of Prayer and Dhikr for Sufi Spiritual Seekers

Today, I stumbled upon a remarkable treasure for anyone on the Sufi spiritual path: Ahmed Hulusi’s book, The Power of Prayer: Channeling Brain Waves Through Dhikr. This work brings profound and transformative knowledge to the modern reader—knowledge that in the past could only be gained by sitting at the feet of a trusted teacher or Shaykh. Acknowledging the challenges of finding a reliable guide in today’s world, Ahmed Hulusi generously shares his wisdom in a way that is both practical and accessible.

About the book: The Power of Prayer: Channeling Brain Waves Through Dhikr

The book explores the immense spiritual potential of prayer and dhikr (remembrance of God), which Hulusi describes as the most powerful tools available to us. By harnessing these practices, we can unlock the hidden forces within our minds and hearts, experiencing both the beauty of this world and the eternal blessings of the hereafter.

Hulusi’s comprehensive and practical approach covers a wide range of topics, including the purpose of prayer, the significance of dhikr, and specific Quranic chapters and supplications for spiritual growth and protection. He also answers questions that many of us have pondered: Why must dhikr be recited in Arabic? Can its meaning not be conveyed in other languages? Why is dhikr so crucial? How does prayer shape our destiny? Each chapter offers insights that encourage a deeper connection with God.

One of the key insights in this book is the understanding of prayer as more than just words or rituals. Hulusi explains that prayer is the act of actualizing one’s desires through the divine powers within. Scientifically, prayer can be seen as “guided brain waves.” He draws a fascinating parallel between the transformation of knowledge into energy within the quantum field that forms the universe and the way human consciousness channels its wants and desires. According to Hulusi, concentrated thought during prayer directs these brain waves, and the stronger the focus, the faster the response. This perspective bridges spirituality and science, offering a deeper appreciation for the power of prayer.

Some standout sections include:
• Why Pray and Why Is Dhikr So Important?
• The Most Powerful Dhikr: The Quran
• Special Dhikr Recommendations and Salat Al-Tasbih
• Prayers for Protection, Guidance, and Abundance

Ahmed Hulusi’s book is an incredible resource for anyone looking to deepen their faith, reinvigorate their practice of prayer, or understand the profound impact of dhikr. It bridges spirituality and science beautifully, showing how the divine and human consciousness interact to bring about meaningful change.

This book will inspire you to connect with God on a deeper level and approach prayer with newfound confidence. Truly a must-read for every seeker.

About the Author: Ahmed Hulusi

Ahmed Hulusi describes his teachings as a modern spiritual understanding of Islam. He emphasizes that the only person to follow is Prophet Muhammad and discourages anyone from becoming his “follower.” He prefers a quiet, private life in a small town, encouraging people to question his ideas and explore for themselves. To avoid self-promotion, he hasn’t included his surname in his books, written over 40 years. Though he initially avoided using his photo, he added it to his books after impostors claimed to be him.

Ahmed Hulusi’s journey began with deep study of Islamic texts, including the Sahih al-Bukhari, Al-Kutub al-Sittah, and a Quranic translation by Turkish scholar Elmalılı. He later explored modern sciences and underwent intensive spiritual practices, which inspired his first book, Revelations (Tecelliyat), written at age 21 in 1965. That same year, he made his pilgrimage to Mecca.

Hulusi has never been part of any political or religious group, focusing instead on journalism, Sufism, and scientific research. Born on January 21, 1945, in Istanbul, Turkey, he and his wife Cemile lived briefly in London before settling in the United States, where they now reside.
